The Lone Star School
Museum and Research Center
Scheduled tours are given by arrangement in advance. Tours are scheduled by direct contact to the society and are organized by touring companies in both states of Illinois and Missouri. It is requested by the society that tours are set up with at least twenty persons. There is a donation required of at least $5.00 per adult. The tour will include the Cheney Mansion, Lone Star School and Museum, unless other arrangements are made previously. Tours must be set up at least two weeks in advance is order to reserve a date as all tour guides are volunteers and they have to be scheduled for tours well ahead of time. During the month of May, tour dates may have to be changed to accommodate the school children's tours, as they take precedent each spring. During the annual "Apple Festival" and other scheduled events, tours of the Cheney Mansion, Lone Star School and Museum will be available. A new addition is now in place on the museum with one of the finest collection of Indian artifacts and the very rare "leg bone of a Mammoth" on display.
