The Cheney Mansion ~
1900
Restoration Project
The time that several persons of the Jersey County
Historical and other citizens in the area
have been
waiting for "
Has Arrived"
Ross McIntyre (in the red cap) and his crew have been busy for the
last couple of weeks rebuilding the Porta Cochure and Porch on the
front of the Cheney Mansion.

This project was placed on the back burner for several years and is
now coming to fruition.

It was hoped that we would be able to secure a State grant to help
pay for the cost of this project, however no grant was available, so
we took it upon ourselves to raise money and move ahead with the
project.

Ross is a third generation of  the McIntyre family that has worked on
the Cheney Mansion.  His grandfather, Jerry McIntyre, Sr., was the
first, then came his father Jerry McIntyre, Jr., then Ross McIntyre.
They are noted for their fine craftmanship.

Another new addition to the Mansion site will  be  the
new brick drive that goes up to and under the Porta Cochure
with a brick sidewalk extending to the brick plaza in front of
the Lone Star Schoolhouse.

The Project is finished and now the "Cheney Mansion" stands
proudly in it's original state.  The new drive and the walk to the
Schoolhouse Court is completed.  The Historical Society
property is now the "Jewel" of the City and County.
